625C is introduced for Asian market

McLaren is introducing its first regionally focused model called the 625C. It is made specifically for the Asian market. The model is supposed to mimic the 650S visually, but with a focus on comfort.

Changes to the model include revised suspension hardware and interconnected dampers which should serve to maintain handling capabilities while improving ride quality. There will also be Sport and Track modes to switch to when comfort is not the priority.

The car is named after the power output of the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. It has been detuned to produce 625 horsepower. Though acceleration has slowed to 3.1 seconds to get from 0 to 62 mph, top speed matches the 650S at 207 mph.

but whats the point? Yes I know for the Asian market, but why did an entire new model need to be created to satisfy their demands? Ostensibly not much changes between the 625 and 650, so whats the point?

I did not see this coming, however I was aware other brands were making market specific premium vehicles.

I thought it would have been better for them to make a single model like the 650 and sell it world wide.

I don't see why they didn't just release the 650S there. Is it something to do with regulations?

Not sure if regulations have anything to do with it and if this is their way to deal with that but so far it seems like they just wanted something tailored to the chinese market.
