First Win for 650S GT3

The 650S picked up its first global win over the weekend at COTA in Texas. Winning by a considerable margin in rainy conditions.

Off the start Kevin Estre in the No 9 K PAX Racing 650S GT3 moved to the outside line heading into turn 1 and jumped into the lead from his 4th place grid position.

The caution came out on lap 3 and on the lap 6 restart Estre simply walked away from the rest of the field. The gap was 7 seconds after one lap, by lap 12 it was 16 seconds and by lap 15 a commanding 22 seconds separated the McLaren from the rest of the field.

The win was Estres first in the Prelli World Challenge, however it may not be Estres driving or even the McLaren as the important factor. Word has it that K-PAX took advantage of the PWCs open wet tire regulations and bought better Pirelli wets, not the series provided tire which is likely where Estre pulled out 7 seconds on the restart lap.
