That should happen eventually. Probably after their current generation of cars ends with P13. They have a new drivetrain in development and their tub is quite flexible, to suit different cars in their range. P13 will have slimmer door sills, P1 incorporates the roof sturcture with the tub and they have the 12C/650S one.

Plans for More McLaren Models Revealed

One of the next highly anticipated Mclaren models to come out will be the brands upcoming 500s, set to rival the Porsche 911, more on this and more in the article below:

Quote:
As if McLaren isn’t keeping things exciting enough, the British automaker is planning three additional models once its P13 and P1 GTR hit the market.

According to a recent report in Automobile Porsche, McLaren is looking to build off its momentum with the successful 650S and P1 with its upcoming entry-level model that could be badged the 500S. Currently known internally as the P13, McLaren will launch the sports car to target the Porsche 911 and Mercedes-Benz AMG GT market and will likely be priced at around $189,000. The McLaren 500S will likely have its 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 powerplant detuned to around 500 hp and will be similar in size to the current P1 and 650S since it shares the same carbon fiber chassis.

But the more interesting news is that McLaren is already planning a near-supercar P15 model and a 650S replacement that’s currently codenamed P16. The third of the automaker’s planned models is a 2+2 that currently has no internal designation. Though it’s unofficial, expect the McLaren 500S to arrive in coupe form next year, along with a possible 650S GTS model. The 500S Spider and the P1 GTR are expected to be available in 2016 while the P16 coupe will come in 2017. A GTS variant for the 500S will spice up the lineup in 2018, along with the Spider variant for the P16. Looking way into the future is a facelift to the 500S, a P16 GTS model and the P15 in 2019 with the 2+2 model making its debut in 2020.
