rwdftw people who dont see the value in buying the best or highest performance are happy to pay and settle for less

there is nothing wrong with that.

as with all things

you want a big a** house? pay up.

gotta pay big to go big.

if you dont see the need or cant afford it

go with less and be happy with it

way of life

cant judge what you cant afford.

and if you can afford it and you still dont see value in it - dont buy it. simple as that. save your money and buy something cheaper.

if noone cared about performance and high end features there would be no market for a car like this

so those who are in the market for a car like this want the best and want to buy from manufacturers who offer the best

so as a manufacturer - you need to offer the best that you can possible.

Yup, thats the best way to put it and thats the way it's done across the board.

These cars are meant to be taken to the track. So if you are the kind of person who wants to have a really expensive hobby then you can learn how to drive your really fast car really fast.

There is definitely another part to the car that is just about prestige and conspicuous consumption. "Look what I have." It's just about having something that makes you look cool to other people.
The same goes for a lot of cars with a real purpose behind them, Range Rovers, Jeeps, Nissan GT-R, etc.

rwdftw the point is that there is no point

if you can afford the 650s i question how you live the other aspects of your life.
what suit do you wear?
how much is your house worth?

what is the point of those?

the 650s is a supercar

there is a no practicality or logic to buying one

nobody needs it. you buy it because you can afford it and you like the car.

being able to use the car to its potential or not is up to the owner.

and who is to say you wont be using the 650s to its limit on the street? depends where you live

i've seen people take cars over 200mph on public roads. maybe some people just like to have nice cars for the bragging rights. its none of our business.

Mr.Sullivan its more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. You can't even come close to 3/4s of the potential of the 650S under normal driving, and I'll argue that even on track 95% of owners wont even tap into half the potential of this thing...

Judging by your answer I take it you don't know either...

rwdftw i have the perfect answer for you!!!!

just buy one of these

if you have to ask what the point is. you won't get it.

Are We Getting to So What?

Right so full figures were released today on the 650S, as I was looking through them there was a single recurring thought in my head, so what?

Sure the 650S can hit 60 in 3 seconds flat, so what?

the 650S runs the 1/4 in 10 something, so what?

CF seats, so what?

optimized aerodynamics, so what?

Many have griped the 12C was only truely engaging at unfathomable speeds, considering the 650S takes speeds a step further, so what?

It just seems so worthless for cars that will run track every now and then, or jaunt a winding road when a minute is free. Not to mention most people buying these cars do not nearly posses the technique to even remotely scratch the surface of this cars potential.

I'll ask it again, so what? Or better yet, so whats the point?
